There are brief moments in a life when all seems well; things seem in balance or perhaps, more accurately, we feel in balance.
Hopefully we are awake enough to cherish the experience and understand balance by its very nature exists as a result of a continual state of instability. Balance does not occur by placing even weights on a scale or by devoting even amounts of time to life’s needs.
Balance occurs by the recognition that with the demands of everyday life things will never be in perfect harmony and we make adjustments. It is in the acknowledgement that life will never be “perfect” that harmony is created.
When riding a bike we maintain our balance through continual movement and readjustments. We maintain our life balance through the same process. Balance is a dynamic process not a permanent state. We can move closer to a state of balance by consciously taking action whenever possible to create an environment of safety. An environment that speaks to our soul.
Through this process we find the balance that allows us to continue when the world becomes overwhelming.
