Purpose Through Contemplation
One of the most profound and important questions we can ask ourselves is, “What is my purpose?” With so much taking up our time, often we do not stop long enough to contemplate this incredibly vital question.
Virtually every belief system seeks to provide us with an answer. In some spiritual practices it is believed that all suffering is a result of striving to obtain things that do not bring us happiness. We are determined to hold on to things of the material nature. Because they do not last, we cannot find eternal happiness in these things nor can we find our purpose. Even in our relationships we often try to hold on in ways that are not possible.
Each of us has a purpose for being here and a special gift that is unique to us. We only need delve into that place in our spirit that allows us to go beyond the busyness of our day or the limitations of our bodies to discover our truth.
Consider this: our purpose may very well be a direct result of all the circumstances that have led us to this point in our life. It is the changes that are forced upon us by the circumstances of life that allow us to fully grow into our purpose. The resistance to our purpose can bring us sorrow, loneliness, and feelings of regret.
It is in the discovery of our path and the acceptance of what we have been tasked with that we find true happiness.
