Ways to Improve Your Mindfulness Personally and Professionally

Each day, we are given a new opportunity to living deeper, more fulfilling lives.  It is up to us to take the challenge.  Mindful living allows us to develop deeper meaning in our daily lives because we choose to do so.  There are many paths to living a more enriching and mindful life, both personally and professionally.  The following is a brief list of activities to help achieve that particular goal.

 

Practicing Gratitude

 

There are so many things to be thankful for every waking moment of our lives.  Use this frame of mind and truly begin to see each day as a gift and an opportunity to be the best possible person you can be in all areas of your life.  There is no need to compartmentalize; be thankful for who you are and be that person for everyone.

How often do we do any of the above hoping to get the answers to some of our most pressing questions and concerns about our life purpose?  

The fact is, we have been given the answer many times over. It’s as close as the neighbor who needs a helping hand. The child who simply needs to be heard.  The elderly person who wants someone to share time with. The animal who needs shelter from the cold. The single mother who is struggling to buy groceries this month. The…….

Often, we choose to ignore how simple our calling is. It is in the awareness and willingness we will notice our call.

It’s simply a matter of responding in each moment.

Would you know your calling?

Many people feel they have a calling to spread a spiritual message through books, presentations, ministries and any number of channels. Though many who spread the message of Spirit do so with no ego attached, others feel they will only be serving their purpose if they achieve a high level of fame and fortune.

The Law of Attraction has been interpreted in a way that many believe it is more about outward attraction than inward.

One woman who fully understood the Law of Attraction and spiritual calling before it was in vogue is The Peace Pilgrim.

Having reached a level of outward success that left her bankrupt inside, The Peace Pilgrim dedicated her life to her calling.

 

The Peace Pilgrim was able to convey what so many hope to achieve in their inner peace.

AS I LOOKED ABOUT THE WORLD, so much of it impoverished, I became increasingly uncomfortable about having so much while my brothers and sisters were starving. Finally I had to find another way. The turning point came when, in desperation and out of a very deep seeking for a meaningful way of life, I walked all one night through the woods. I came to a moonlit glade and prayed.

I felt a complete willingness, without any reservations, to give my life--to dedicate my life--to service. "Please use me!" I prayed to God. And a great peace came over me.

I tell you it's a point of no return. After that, you can never go back to completely self-centered living.

And so I went into the second phase of my life. I began to live to give what I could, instead of to get what I could, and I entered a new and wonderful world. My life began to be meaningful. I attained the great blessing of good health; I haven't had an ache or pain, a cold or headache since. (Most illness, you know, is psychologically induced.) From that time on, I have known that my life work would be for peace--that it would cover the whole peace picture: peace among nations, peace among groups, peace among individuals, and the very, very important inner peace. However, there's a great deal of difference between being willing to give your life and actually giving your life, and for me fifteen years of preparation and inner seeking lay between.

Miracles abound when we are open to them

Although every day is filled with miracles, some have a more profound impact than others. Recently I had just such a day. Actually, it was four days of miracles.

It was during The Freedom Formula Experience that my friend and colleague, Christine Kloser envisioned, created and hosted.

As I think back to the four day weekend that shifted so much in my spirit, I am overwhelmed with gratitude at all I experienced, felt and learned.

Between Neale Donald Walsch, Marianne Williamson, David Naegle, Anita and Brent Law, James Twyman and of course, Chrisitine Kloser, so much was revealed.

Beyond  what we were blessed to hear from all the presenters, we connected with others who were also at the conference to learn from some of the top luminaries in the world.

One of the most amazing experiences was hearing James Twyman perform. James is best known as the Emissary of Light. He has committed his life to sharing the message of peace through his words and music.

One prayer he has so angelically put to music is The Prayer of St. Francis. The words are as follows.

The Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace:
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master:
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

I would invite you to consider the words of The Prayer of St. Francis. It is when we turn our attention from ourselves to how we may serve peace prevails.
